Cryptical?

So I've just finished Digital Fortress, by Dan Brown for like the third time. Cryptogrophy and whatnot. Thought I'd try out one of the algorithms they use. Its used in the Da Vinci Code as well. See how you go:

I think you'll find the cypher should be 'yhsocoeitronaniamthkmniyiieecottfwdu'. Once I saw it was 36 characters long...

There's loads of usual Dan Brown guff in digital fortress. Maybe Dan Brown should learn the difference between bits and bytes - a 64-bit key is 8 standard ASCII characters in length, not 64. etc.
