Stealage

Those dickheads over a Microsoft have stolen the whole look-at-what-other-people-are-playing idea with their latest version of MSN. Actually, they still don't get it because they can't get their heads around the fact that it's ARTIST - TITLE not the other way round. And they put ugly MSN search links all over the songname. Bah. Baaah.

I kind of like the idea, I'm just disappointed they can't do it properly. At first I thought other people were dumb for putting the title name first. But, I then realised it was "my bad" (Americanism).

I hate the dirty search links. They can f--k off. If I could code properly, I would "hax" the .exe file and take those bastards out.

Why don't you make a messenger service, Dom?

I don't make a messenger service because there are already IM programs that do *everything*, so nobody would use mine.

And, even though I'm feeling pretty leet after fixing up an Red Hat Apache2 install at work that had gone hideously wrong, it would take a bit more than a 'hax' to take the links out... I think it's client(recepient)-side anyway.

It's all about what other users want...bollocks.

Actually, I looked into it - you can't get rid of the links, but the artist/title thing is passed by a dll which people have already taken to pieces. From there you just reverse the values.

Apparently the 'toaster' plugin for Winamp which some people use can also do this swap, but I could never get it working in the first place.

Why don't you hack the planet while you're at it.

Regarding the latest MSN Messenger release - it seems like as newer versions of im clients are released they get more and more bloated. ICQ is a prime example, and see how it's fallen in popularity as more slimline (at the time) clients have risen. Of course that may have also been because the ICQ client took 20 minutes to load everytime and was butt ugly.

if u head over to mess . be there is a fix for lots of s--t on that version of msn.
